Course Structure & Content

The training program we offer to become a management assistant for wholesale and export in the field of foreign trade follows the standard dual training system for Germany and is divided into two parts. One part of the training is conducted in the firm itself and the other takes place in vocational school.

On-the-Job Training:

During the 2.5 and 3-year programs, our trainees get the chance to work in most of the following areas:

  • Business Unit I: Life Sciences (5-6 months)
  • Business Unit II: Coatings & Construction (5-6 months)
  • Business Unit III: Plastics & Additives (5-6 months)
  • Business Unit IV: Elastomers & Additives (5-6 months)
  • Business Unit V: Oleochemicals & Lubricants (5-6 months)
  • Logistics (3-4 months)
  • Finance and Accounting (2 months)
  • Quality Management (2-3 months)
  • Post & Reception (1 month)

Vocational Schooling:

Academic instruction takes place in the Am Lämmermarkt vocational school, located at Wallstraße 2 in Hamburg. Two days a week, our trainees attend lessons where the following subjects are taught:

  • Economics and business
  • Sales and purchasing
  • Finance and logistics services
  • Controlling and accounting
  • Data processing
  • Business English
  • Additional foreign language (at least one): French, Spanish and/or Italian

As part of the three-year training course, and with the support of Hamburg's Am Lämmermarkt vocational school for foreign trade, we also offer the chance to earn an additional qualification as a business manager in foreign trade. To be eligible for these 6 semesters of practical and theory-based training, you must have completed A-levels or an equivalent school-leaving certificate. During daytime lessons (two days a week) and evening classes (once a week) this course offers students the option of gaining additional knowledge and skills in economics, law, human resources management and communication. Training is provided in the following subject areas:

  • General business administration
  • Foreign trade operations
  • Economics / politics 
  • Law
  • Accounting
  • English
  • Human resource management
  • Mathematics
  • Data processing
  • Additional foreign language (French or Spanish)
  • Communication / presentations

A two-week certificate course on export and foreign trade is also part of this program and takes place in London, in cooperation with the German-British Chamber of Industry and Commerce's European College of Business and Management. For more information, visit:
